The U.S. Army is the oldest branch of the United States Armed Services. it started as the Continental Army on June 14, 1775 with it’s first mission to defeat the British and secure American independence.
After the Revolutionary War, Congress created the U.S. Army on June 3, 1784 to replace the disbanded Continental Army. The U.S. Army considers itself to be the original armed service for the United States of America.
